SANTA CLARA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AICLARA Analytics (“CLARA”), the leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the commercial insurance industry, today announced that it has hired Tom Warden as Chief Insurance and Science Officer. An experienced leader in using data, analytics and AI to solve complex business problems, Warden will apply his skills to oversee CLARA’s scientific, technological and research operations; he will help ensure that CLARA continues to bring innovative products to market that address the greatest needs of the insurance industry. Warden will report to newly appointed CLARA CEO Heather H. Wilson.

“Underwriting profitability and claims excellence are a focus for all carriers. Tom understands this and has demonstrated through his body of work that strategic applications of AI/ML can be game-changing,” said Wilson. “He is the ideal person to guide CLARA’s data science and insurance solutions efforts as we identify new ways to improve claim outcomes and underwriting results for our clients. We deliver ROI to customers within six months of implementation. Tom’s insights will be instrumental in enhancing this performance and to the expansion of CLARA’s industry-leading product suite and the differentiation of our platform.”

Warden has long been regarded as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives in mid-sized and Fortune 100 companies. He has developed plans and built teams to improve the quality and efficiency of how data is used enterprise-wide across varying functions to make critical business decisions. Warden specializes in creating competitive advantages through emerging technologies that boost revenue and capture market opportunities.

A holder of six patents for his work, Warden has formulated big data and artificial intelligence solutions to enable substantial business growth and increase shareholder value at his previous companies: Allstate (Vice President – Research), AIG (Chief Data Officer/Head of Consumer Data Integration and Analytics) and Employers Insurance (SVP – Chief Data and Analytics Officer). He has also led the development of strategic plans, innovation capabilities, and digital products.

“I am joining CLARA because it’s a great company with a bright future,” said Warden. “Built from our exclusive contributory datasets of claims, medical providers, and attorneys, our tools help clients improve claims outcomes and assure that injured workers receive the most effective care possible. I have worked in the insurance data science field for more than 35 years and know first-hand how difficult it is to build AI models and deliver their output to those on the front line. Our models enable claims adjusters to handle complex claims more effectively. CLARA is an insurtech company that is delivering realized value to its customers every day, and I am thrilled to now be part of a team that will take the company and its customers to new levels of success.”

Warden earned an MBA from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University, where he majored in accounting. As a Chartered Financial Analyst with experience in securities analysis and portfolio management, Warden focuses on identifying and optimizing what creates value and what destroys it within companies.
